Marketing Career
I got my MBA because I thought it would be practical. After all, my father and my grandfather had both been successful businessman, and I was expected to follow in their footsteps. Nonetheless, when I got to the level of actually getting into business, I found it unrewarding. I just didn't have the feel for it. I wasn't exactly pragmatic enough, and I didn't work all that well with others. I was mostly talented at more creative tasks. I was good at thinking up products, logos, designs, and things like that. For a while, I thought about being an inventor, but then my dad gave me a better idea: he told me to get involved in a marketing career.
The first thing that I did was to get my marketing degree online. It was mostly because I thought the slip of paper would make me more marketable. I already had a good degree from a respectable university, but I had no formal experience with marketing and advertising. I had never worked in a marketing campaign, and didn't really understand that much about how the marketplace worked outside of basic economics. A degree seem like just the right way to start my marketing career.
After I got that online marketing degree, I immediately started looking for marketing jobs. The marketplace was pretty dry when I first started looking, and it was discouraging at first. I knew that marketing careers were lucrative – I had read the statistics about how much money that they made. Nonetheless, if I couldn't find even a starter marketing job, I certainly would never have a marketing career. I'd have to go back into business, and then I would have to account for all the time I had been out of work. I didn't relish the possibility of doing either.
Through perseverance, however, I was eventually able to being my marketing career. I found a great office that was looking for people with marketing and advertising degrees, and applied right away. Because I was still relatively fresh out of college, they were eager to have me. There are always looking for bright young people. It was difficult work at first. It certainly wasn't quite as easy for me as I had anticipated. Nonetheless, I found it satisfying, and I was very good at it. I'm pretty glad that I got to use my skills for a marketing career. It is a great job for me.
